The Great Himalaya also has two of Uttarakhan's important glaciers: the Gangotri glacier is the source of the holy Ganges River, while the Yamunotri glacier feeds the Yamuna River. The highest peak that's entirely in India is Nanda Devi in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, at ‎25,643 feet above sea level. The section in Sikkim has the loftiest peaks, with Mount Kanchenjunga being the third highest peak in the world at 28,169 feet above sea level. It stretches for over 1,200 miles along India's northern border, all the way from Jammu and Kashmir in the West (where it's bounded by the Indus River) to Arunachal Pradesh in the East.
